Semiotic and Film
Whats the connection between analysis film with semiotic? Is film language? To understand certain aspect of film doesn't need to put amount of work by learning the vocabulary instead learned to read images. From that, it will result to basic understanding of cultural interpretations. But, although the word pratically point out to reading, it is not the same as reading a material that consist of arbitrary sign system, which composed of alphabetic symbol.
Film unrelated to grammatical subjects and somehow to appreciate the value of film doesn't require an intellectual comprehending. Thus, there is no link between language and film itself.
To move further into reading film, certain amount of reading depends on three different element that act as keys to it:
1. The physiological good readers have efficient and extensive saccadic patterns
2. The ethnographic the most literate readers draw on experiences and knowledge of a wide variety of cultural visual conventions
3. The psychological readers who gain the most are the ones who assimilate sets of meaning and integrate those meanings as part of the experience of the text.
Apart from the different element, reading film can take place within different level where a certain level of viewers understand plot which is one of basic aspect in film, and another level is overlooking towards film by crtics and such. And thus film somwhat feels easy to grasp but on the other hand, film can become a hard part of subject to understand.
hey guys when you read the word "semiotic and reading film" how does it sound.... i think its film because normally we always watch movie rather than read it. but here in semiotic we are going to read the film with the different aspect like its sound, image, setting etc.

•Iconic the signifier has a likeness to the signified
•Indexical the signifier is related to the signified
•Symbolic the signified is represented through cinematic or cultural conventions.
where as Reading a film can occur at different levels.
•On one level most viewers will understand basic aspects of a film, such as plot.
•Other more critical viewing will not be so obvious and is often overlooked.
•In other words, film seems easy and that’s what makes it so hard.

Everything happend in film usually related to people life either direct or indirect,
so because of this understanding the film is essier to interpret.To undertand the film depends on what we see, because mind will combine and built up the meaning base on viewers knoledge and and experience. So it means that reading the movie is random and depends on eye skill.
